GNB resolves to communicate to public exclusively through well-known quotes

Fredericton — The provincial government came under fire Tuesday after a press release was issued featuring several quotes duplicated word-for-word from another release four months ago.

The province has since denied that this is a mistake, and added that they intend to continue to communicate to the public using only time-tested quotes from famous figures.

“As ‘I’ always say — be the change that you wish to see in the world,” said Deputy Premier Stephen Horsman, employing the new technique.

While the government has already begun to move ahead with this strategy, there is some doubt that using old quotes will instill trust in the general population.

“Well,” said Horsman, enigmatically. “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.”

Despite some limited opposition, the action has already had some impact, allowing very little opportunity for the government to make any potentially volatile statements.

This method is even being employed at the province’s highest office. Since early this morning, Premier Brian Gallant has opened his doors to all reporters, allowing them the opportunity to ask him anything they wished to.

The Manatee spoke with him shortly after breakfast, and asked him about his involvement with the new communications strategy.

We are the knights who say Ni!” said Gallant, who didn’t quite seem to understand the initiative.

The premier continued to quote from popular films such as The Big Lebowski and Borat for two hours, little of it relevant to this story. Nevertheless, The Manatee thanked him for his time.

“Keep on rockin’ in the free world,” he sang, ably enough.
