Generous but misinformed stoner donates pot-ashtrays to out-of-work Picadilly miners

Sussex — News broke a couple of weeks ago that PotashCorp of Saskatchewan would be closing the doors of its Picadilly mine location near Sussex, and since then the province has been trying to rebound.

“We’re devastated,” a disgruntled anonymous employee told The Manatee. “The mine is the heart of the community; it’s how the town survives.”

Despite the hectic time of year, New Brunswickers have done their part to help out those in need. The Irvings have offered jobs to many of the now-unemployed workers, and donations from generous citizens have also been coming in.

Between 420 and 430 people are expected to be let go. After hearing the news, Tommy Cornwallis, a St. Thomas University philosophy major, said he had to do something to help. A self-proclaimed marijuana aficionado, he claims to have now donated 4 fully loaded ashtrays.pothead

“I produce a ton of pot ash every day, and it usually just goes to waste. I was sitting there the other day reading an article about the mine’s foreclosure and that’s when I had my epiphany,” Cornwallis told us. “The idea came to me when I read that 420 people were going to lose their jobs. I mean, come on, man… 420. The universe was trying to tell me something.”

The Manatee was able to catch up with a Saskatchewan PotashCorp spokesperson and he had this to say: “What the hell?”
