Grand Falls man thinking about opening his own microbrewery after attending one craft beer festival

Grand Falls — Despite being equipped with very little education and not possessing any real business acumen whatsoever, Leonard Galley is determined to disrupt the province’s microbrewery industry in the not-too-distant future. His “eureka” moment occurred a few months ago during a craft beer festival he attended in Fredericton, N.B.

“I was about 15 beers in and enjoying some sort of beef kabob when the idea dawned on me. Why not just open up my own brewery? After all, how hard can it be? It’s just barley, yeast, water, and whatever the heck ‘hops’ are,” explained Galley. He elaborated, saying this was the first craft beer festival he has ever attended. “Everyone seemed like they were having a great time. The customers are here to stay, and my home brew will be, too,” Galley proclaimed to The Manatee‘s newsroom staff early Thursday morning.

“I’ve already blown up my basement with the first few batches and I haven’t seen the cat since last Monday, but these are just the small hiccups any ambitious entrepreneur has to deal with in the early stages of growth,” said Galley after we asked him how his homemade beer product is coming along. He also made it clear that he is in fact, “not a chemist.”

Galley also filled us in on another venture he is working on in which he combines cheese curds, gravy, and fries into a delicious complimentary dish. He does not have a name for it yet, but he believes it will “transform the way we enjoy eating.”
