Fredericton — An ancient artifact was unearthed early Wednesday morning in Fredericton by 2 archaeologists from the University of New Brunswick. A team of scientists led by Dr. Miles Mitchell have been exploring a new excavation site, located behind the Ultramar in Devon on the north side of Fredericton. This site coincidentally marks the same location as the former popular bar The North Star.
The excavated artifact is being described as a baseball hat-shaped object, seemingly leather-like in texture. The object is complete with flame-like markings on both lateral sides, and there also appears to be what looks like a signature saying “Dale Earnhardt #3.” The authenticity of the signature is currently still in question.
“At the moment, we have no idea what we’re dealing with here. This could very well be an object used by an ancient and dangerous civilization — a civilization that we can only hope to fully understand sometime in the future. We’re going to take it back to the lab and see what we can find out,” explained Dr. Mitchell, while carefully placing the artifact into a plastic evidence bag.
Other, smaller objects were reportedly found in surrounding areas, including what appears to be cigarette butts, mustache fibres and a 20-foot metallic cylindrical tube or pole. Once The Manatee learns more about this developing story, we will share our findings with the general public.
