Fredericton — On Friday night, the New Brunswick legislature had police remove two tents owned by peaceful protesters there to voice their opposition to the imminent closure of Clinic 554.
The official reason cited for the removal of the tents was because of their “frankly terrifying” horror stories, which the legislator deemed “too disturbing” for their grounds.
Premier Blaine Higgs acknowledged that while scary stories are a “camping tradition,” he said that these particular stories “crossed a line.”
“You should hear the ideas thought up by these girls…sorry, women,” He said, giving a conspiratorial wink his 19-year-old intern, who rolled her eyes.
“I mean, horror stories. Stuff about monsters trying to take control of their uteruses. Men and women forced to live as the wrong gender. Scary, scary stuff. You really hate to hear it, so we had to put a stop to it.
“The stories, that is,” he stopped to clarify. “We had to stop them from telling their stories.”
