New Brunswick jumps between all 4 seasons for record 18 times in one day

Fredericton — A new milestone was reached in the capital city yesterday as each of the four seasons — winter, spring, summer and fall — were experienced for a combined 18 times in a 24-hour period.

“It was incredibly confusing,” construction foreman Connor Foreman told The Manatee. “I almost sent my crew out five or six times to tear up the road for no reason like we do every summer, only to be stopped dead in our tracks by a sudden blizzard.”

With temperature fluctuations and sudden changes between blue skies and blinding snow, foreman Foreman wasn’t the only one confused.

“I gassed up my lawnmower, and then had to siphon the gas out to put it back into my snow-blower. I repeated this process nine times before finally giving up and going for a nap,” Fredericton man Frederick Mann said. “I woke up an hour later to the sound of a gentle breeze and songbirds chirping, but by the time I got to the window the wind was howling and the snow was blowing once again.”

Of the 18 recorded seasons during the Ides of March, 11 of them were winter. “That’s certainly not unusual for the area,” weather forecaster Werner Forrester said. “The province is known for its erratic weather, and though yesterday was a record-setter, it only slightly edged out the previous benchmark of 17 from 2016.”

Dozens of reports of people experiencing sunburns and nearly simultaneous frostbites flooded into The Manatee’s head office, though none of them could be substantiated.

“We had a nice spring yesterday,” Forrester said. “Three of them in fact, but the summers were too short, only about 14 minutes apiece. Autumn was pleasant, and it lasted nearly an hour, which was nice, but we’re back to winter again, and it’s anyone’s guess how long it’ll last this time.”
