Saint John — Family Dinner, Inc. has announced their board of directors. In a press release Monday, board President Cortland Crank said 12 members of his immediate family will help the corporation meet their year-end target of having a holly jolly Christmas.
Family gatherings are prohibited within the Saint John health region during the COVID-19 orange recovery phase. However, businesses can remain open. “Our operation plan has provisions for dinner to take place at the next board meeting scheduled for December 25th,” said Crank. According to the press release, the company’s Christmas dinner is expected to contribute $284 to the province’s GDP.
New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs was pleased to hear a new business was created during these challenging times.
“This is evidence that our plan is working. The entrepreneurial spirit will get us through this pandemic,” said Higgs. “Oh! And the Christmas spirit, family, friends, et cetera,” he added, shrugging his shoulders.
Crank said the company’s executive team will include his sister Cora Crank, brother Cole Crank, father Carson Crank and mother Clara Crank.
Headquartered in Saint John, incorporation documents for Family Dinner, Inc. state its purpose is to “comply with public health guidelines, develop holiday cheer, promote name alliteration and definitely not a tax loophole.”
Asked by email why he issued a press release, Crank replied: “I just thought people would like to know what I’m up to. Can we do an interview?”
