Whoopi Goldberg’s scorching comedy starts bus fire at Moncton casino

Moncton — A fire unintentionally started by comedian Whoopi Goldberg cut short her appearance at Casino New Brunswick on Saturday night. Both the casino and Codiac RCMP have confirmed that Goldberg’s tour bus caught fire near the end of her Oct. 24 show.

Goldberg is known for frequent travel via tour bus due to her debilitating fear of flying. The 59-year-old co-host of The View is currently on tour for her new “anti-relationship” book, If Someone Says “You Complete Me,” RUN!

While the source of ignition was initially uncertain, a subsequent investigation revealed that a series of blistering jokes at the expense of various celebrities was the cause of the fire. Goldberg’s searingly sarcastic burns about many public figures including popular conservative personalities, Republican politicians, the dentist who killed Cecil the lion, anti-vaxxers, the Duggars, promoters of the Confederate flag, and Homer Simpson caused dramatic increases in temperature.

Around 9 p.m., while at the crescendo of a particularly scorching rant about Donald Trump, the temperature outside of the theatre reached the fire point and ignited combustible parts of her tour bus. “Really, I’d say ‘The Donald’ is partially responsible for it. I get so fired up, so to speak, over his asinine comments that I guess I overdid it,” conceded Goldberg.

Goldberg is thankful for the quick work of firefighters who got the blaze under control and ensured that the casino was safely evacuated. As for her upcoming plans, she is trying to get back to her home while avoiding all aspects of air travel.

“Honestly, I never meant to be here in the first place. When I was told that I was heading to New Brunswick, I thought they meant the city not too far from my house in northern New Jersey. I went to bed on the bus and woke up in Moncton, Ontario. And then my bus burned down. How do you like that shit?” she laughed.
