Cindy Day to offer subscription-based weather forecasting

Halifax — While many mark Cindy Day’s announcement that she will be leaving CTV as the end of an era, Day herself marks it as the beginning of a new opportunity.

Yesterday Day announced via Twitter that after 10 years, she will be “moving on,” leaving many of her fans confused and scared about what will be happening to their favourite meteorologist. Today, Day revealed that her new venture is a subscription-based weather forecast service, where Maritimers will pay a monthly fee to access her up-to-the-minute weather reports.

Starting Dec. 23 — following Day’s final day with CTV and just in time for Christmas — Cindy Day’s Live Weather ™ will offer her timely and accurate weather reports for a price.

“If it happens in the sky and you want to know why, it will cost you a low, low payment of $9.99 a month. Act now for a free 30-day trial,” explained Day in an emailed press release to The Manatee. “Anyone will be able to download my app onto their smartphone, or visit my website, where, once they log in and confirm their payment information, I will continue to give them the accurate, cheerful and relatable weather forecasts they know and love.”

The Manatee called Day to ask what her inspiration was for her new business venture.

“Frankie MacDonald is probably making millions from his videos, and he isn’t even a trained meteorologist,” said Day, referring to the Nova Scotia YouTube sensation who is famous for his energetic weather forecasts. “Young people these days don’t sit down in front of a TV at 5 to watch the weather and the news. They want to get their information right away from YouTube or apps on their phones or computers. It was time for me to jump on that, or get left in the dust.”

Local Cindy Day fan Trudy Dinkins is ecstatic about the announcement. “I’m kind of what you’d call a Cin-Day-ite,” gushed Dinkins, who was one of the first to pre-register for Day’s new service and take advantage of the free 30-day trial.

“I’ve got an autographed photo of Cindy, I dress like Cindy, and I’ve been watching her for 10 years every day, but sometimes I miss the forecast because of errands and the like. I always kick myself when that happens. But now I can watch her any time, anywhere, on my phone! Not a minute will go by that I won’t hear those sweet, dulcet tones ringing in my ears, telling me about an approaching hurricane that will surely destroy my home.

“Worth every penny!”

  1. Any truth to the rumour that they’re giving scholarships to NSCAD to the best children’s weather picture every day?

  4. I’ve read she’s a millionaire so perhaps she doesn’t need a steady paycheck from the tv station! I wish her well but I will still watch the tv for the weather., hope CTV does get a meteorologist soon….the others are not cutting it for me.

LOVE…LOVE….LOVE Cindy but I am definitely not about to pay 10 bucks a month to get her forecasts…the FREE Weather Network app suite me just fine. Also…I am highly doubtful that Frankie is making millions from YouTube.

  6. Lol! I laughed when I read this. She really does think she is something else… Even her few supporters who see her as the weather god won’t support this move… I find her forecasts suck!

    • I believe she really thinks she is THE weather GOD and cannot be replaced. She is not missed at all on CTV as far as I am concerned. Her attitude is something else for sure. Glad she is gone.

  7. So the article mentions her web site and app, but doesn’t tell you where to find them. No results on Google!

I personally like her and wish her all the best but likely will not spend $120/yr to get the weather forecast. She is a smart lady and will land on her feet.

    • I wouldn’t be too hasty in making remarks about “Frankie” not being a trained meteorologist. He is a very special young man who is making his dreams come true.

  9. I will not pay Cindy Day $9.99 a month, when I can get the same foercast for free. She really does think her forecasts are special ….not. Cindy needs to get a life and stop to smell the roses. Glad she is gone….especially when she made such a fuss over Frankie’s forecast. We all no Frankie isn’t a meteorologist but most of the time , he was right. I think this may have annoyed her a bit lol.

  10. Wow! I cannot get over how stupid some of you people are to not understand that the Manatee is a satirical site. You’re all a bunch of maroons.
