Saint John councillor admits he tore down Tower 7, attempted heart surgery with excavator

Saint John — Saint John City Councillor Blake Armstrong has admitted to accidentally tearing down Tower 7 of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

“I’ll pay for it,” the Ward 1 councillor told social media.

In a confession via Facebook late Friday evening, Armstrong recalled that upon hearing news of the terrorist attack, he rushed to the scene in his personally owned excavator to help with the evacuation. Operating without a plan, Armstrong over-zealously demolished building 7 of the World Trade Center.

Despite causing millions of dollars in damages and years of elaborate conspiracy theories regarding the sudden collapse of the building, Armstrong does not believe criminal charges are warranted. “It wasn’t on purpose, so it doesn’t count.”

Staff at The Manatee asked a friend who took that law class in high school if this was a feasible defence. “No,” they told us by text message.

The act would not have been discovered if it were not for a Saint John resident who captured video of the councillor illegally dumping debris from Tower 7 into an empty lot at Riverview Drive in West Saint John.

The councillor also admitted to attempting heart surgery with the same excavator that destroyed Tower 7, but defended his deed. “It’s disappointing how my act of kindness is being portrayed. I was trying to save a man’s life,” he explained.

Bystanders intervened before Armstrong could do any serious damage to the man clenching his chest. It was later confirmed he was only suffering from heartburn.

Saint John Police said they will not be pressing charges for the councillor’s actions, but have taken away the keys to his excavator until he “chills the [expletive] out.”
