Chatham — As a work stoppage threatens to shut down Canada Post and disrupt home mail delivery, one man is glad he finally made the switch from traditional forms of pornography to online sources.
Randy Dunphy, 39, is a mechanic and an avid fan of what he calls “adult training materials.” For years, he had subscribed to the traditional magazines and was a regular renter of VHS movies. He would eagerly awaited his deliveries in his mailbox, which arrived regularly, consistently, and most importantly: on time. But in recent years, he states, he saw the writing on the wall, and realized that a change was needed if his porn supply was to continue to arrive.
“After that last post office strike, I didn’t get my stuff for 5 weeks,” he said. “That’s a freakin’ long time for an aficionado like myself. I went to the library to research other ways to get access the stuff, and found out about this Internet thing. This was way back in 2009. 
“Ever since, I’ve been buying fewer mags and vids and spend most of my time and money subscribed to premium entertainment services. No mail, no problem. While there’s nothing like the classic grainy quality of a training video on VHS tape, the Internet is more convenient.”
Post office employee Guy Mann has noted the change in volume of mail addressed to Dunphy. “In the past, we’d have trouble stuffing all the magazines and parcels in his mailbox because of the sheer volume he received,” said Mann, shaking his head. “Nowadays, he’d be lucky to get a Canadian Tire flyer and that’s about it.”
